Simon was born at 24 weeks gestation. He has had a long difficult road in his lifetime.
Simon is now 18 months old. He is now fighting for his life.
Here is a timeline of events provided to me, by Simon’s Mother Mysti
Jan 22: Developed a mild cough, but required minimal oxygen support after being off oxygen for 2 months.
Jan 23: Tested positive for RSV. Discharged from the hospital and allowed to go home.
Jan 27: Began sleeping more.
Jan 28: Required more oxygen (Fluctuated between 2 and 4 liters)
Jan 29: Didn’t look good. Felt there was possibly a pneumonia going on, requested chest x-rays from his pediatrician. I was instructed to bring him in to the ER. While packing up to drive him in, he crashed, requiring 6 liters of oxygen (maximum on the tank) and was only maintaining 74% oxygen saturation. Call placed to 9-1-1. Simon was taken into the ER via ambulance at 10 liters of oxygen. It took about 3 hours to stabilize him in the ER. Once stable, he looked great and began eating crackers and drinking anything offered. He was moved to the pediatric floor. He napped and woke again about 7 pm and played until midnight. Simon was every bit of the typical child that he is during that time.
Jan 30: Following a breathing treatment at 2 am, Simon began to desaturate. Oxygen requirements went from 3 liters to 5 liters. Once reaching 6 liters, Simon required bagged oxygen through a face mask and was intubated for ventilation between 5 and 6 am. He was then life flighted from Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to The Children’s Hospital. He has been on a ventilator since that time. Also tested positive for hMPV (Human Metapneumovirus).During the first 48 hours here, Simon coded 8 times. (code blue)
Simon’s mom, Mysti, was told by the doctors last night, ” There is not much more we can do…”. No mother should ever hear those words.
Simon is at Children’s Hospital in Aurora(Denver). His family followed him there(from their home in Cheyenne) as soon as he was flown in Flight for Life. His family not only needs our prayers for little Simon, but they could use our help with donations. As you can imagine, not only is it costing them the gas of driving back and forth to the hospital, but the food and the time they are out of work to be with their son, but the medical bills that will soon follow.
We are asking if you are able to please, help by making a donation to Simon and his family in this time of need. Even if you can only spare a $1.00, every little bit will help. If you can help, please click the paypal donation button below. All Donations will go straight to the family, so you can be secure in knowing your donation is going right where it is needed.
We also continue to ask for your prayers, your healing and positive vibes you are muster for Simon and his family. Simon has proven that he is a fighter, being born at 24 weeks and beating the odds doctor had stacked against him, so we know he will fight this and come back to his family.
