Macaroni Necklaces

by Lori on July 20, 2010

I am always searching for something fun for the kids to do here at home. They love to be outside but it can get too hot and then of course if it rains, we have to stay in.

I am heading out of town this weekend and I wanted to make sure hubby had tons for the kids to do so they wouldn’t get bored.

Enter: Macaroni Necklaces! I found this awesome blog called Homemaking Fun. I love this blog! Tons of great ideas!

Here is her post on the Macaroni Necklaces. I used ditalini just like she did in the picture. I got the awesome containers for the noodles in the $1 section at target.

I did this with Lex one year and we made sooooo much. I was sooo excited for him to have these on hand…well we went to go use them a month or so later and they were moldy! Gotta make sure they air dry very well. :)
I will try this recipe though, as I didn’t use Rubbing Alcohol in mine.

We used to do this as kids. You can also glue them to paper plates and make masks.

As a step-mom who works from home I sometimes struggle with ideas for the kids to keep them busy. This is simple and something my step-daughter will especially love.

A friend gave me a great idea and I did it with my Girl Scout Troop last Sunday. I bought small pumkins and a ton of the small shiney plastic gem stones. We used tooth picks to apply the glue to the stone and then put on the pumpkin, it was a fun, non messy project that even my three year old did. The girls loves it and were so proud of there work and i was happy because it was cheap, fun and will last thru Halloween. I have even thought of doing some more but painting the pumpkins black first. If anybodys entrested I can post pictures.
