Christmas Traditions 2011

Do you have Christmas Traditions?

Last Christmas I shared a few of our traditions with you guys.

The beautiful thing about traditions is that you can add to them and pass them onto your kids. This year we added a few new traditions that I know we will continue throughout the years.

This year we wanted to teach the kids more on what the REAL meaning of Christmas is. We started a Advent calendar that not only included a family fun activity in it but also a bible verse that leads up to the birth of Jesus. So far the kids have REALLY enjoyed this, especially all the extra family fun we are having. It is nice though having Madison read the verse to the boys and C-man asking questions. Its a great opportunity for discussion, learning and family time.

We also started the Elf on the Shelf tradition. This has been a fun one. The kids enjoyed waking up and looking for the elf to see where he is now. Sometimes hubby and I forgot to move the elf so we had to doing a few little boring days but over all I think we have done a great job of making the elf look like he was getting into some mischief.

We also did a themed Christmas tree. With my nice big gorgeous tree we did a red/white/silver theme and it really makes me love my tree even more. It looks very grown up and pretty. We got a second small tree and let the kids decorate it. They made a garland, lots of ornaments and then picked through all our other ornaments. Tragically I think we got what we paid for on our smaller tree and it ended up falling over one night and breaking a few ornaments and also our angel tree topper. So I will be on the hunt for a Christmas tree the day after Christmas sales.

Our next tradition has not even happened as I type this but I am most excited about this one. We are going to have a Holiday themed breakfast on Christmas eve morning. I think next year I will do it the first Saturday in December but I didn’t think about it until it was too late. So on Christmas even morning the kids will wake up and come downstairs to a nice Christmas theme breakfast. Complete with a few little presents such as Christmas theme coloring books and little things. We even went and bought pretty Christmas plates and cups just for this occasion.

I really cant wait to share more details with you about this AFTER it has happened. So come back and check out what we do for our Holiday Breakfast Christmas eve morning!
