Cleaning Schedules and Routines

by Lori on September 18, 2011

Do you have a cleaning schedule? A routine that keeps you on top of your daily duties and makes your house run smoother?

My house right now is in chaos! We are in the process of converting our playroom into my office, we have tubs of Halloween/Fall decor in the house and we also have a garage door still not working. I feel overrun, overwhelmed, and down right out of my sorts. I am a person who thrives on routines, schedules, and order. Don’t get me wrong, I can go with the flow in most cases but generally I like to know whats happening ahead of time. If I feel like I’m out of control I feel very panicky.

Yes, this even applies to cleaning. When the house gets so overwhleming my anxiety kicks in and it is not a pretty sight for anyone.

In church this morning we talked about making sure the kids knew the rules. That they knew what was expected of them and that the rules were clearly stated. I thought to myself why couldn’t that be the same for the whole family? Not only with daily life rules but the house cleaning rules. How we keep a orderly house.

I knew as soon as church was over I had to rush home and devise a plan of action. Not only for me but for the entire family.

Here is what I came up with:

Sunday- Kids laundry would be done but over all Sunday would be a family day. A day for us to play together and have fun.

Monday- Wash all the bathroom towels and bedsheets- Clean all 3 bathrooms top to bottom.

Tuesday-Finish laundry(mine and hubby’s to be exact) and clean the kitchen top to bottom.

Wednesday-Clean everyone’s bedroom(do not worry, the kids have  a hand in this and that will be another post) and clean the office.

Thursday- My errand day. Grocery shopping and anything else that needs to be done.

Friday- Clean the Living room top to bottom.

Saturday- Any yard/garden work. Give the dog a bath if needed.

What do you think? Is this realistic of me? Did I forget anything?

How do you stay on top of your daily house duties?

I love the list. Great job at jumping on a routine like this. I like 31 days to clean http://31daystoclean.com/
When I was in a position to be in control of the house I kept it spotless with this book. Hopefully when my mom leaves the chaos does too.
