Moving Away to College?

Do you have a college student, or know anyone that does? If so, you are probably aware that the school year is coming to a close and many students are, for lack of a better phrase, being kicked out of their dorms and apartments. Finals are stressful enough, so here are a few simple tips to moving out and finding storage.

Start packing now and find free boxes. Did you save the boxes you had when you moved in? If not, try asking around campus for some extra boxes. Friends may have some extras on hand as well as some offices. Start packing as soon as you can. For many, students are asked to move out the day following their finals so the earlier everything is packed, the better. Make it a little project, or use it as a break from studying. By starting early and taking it slow, packing will be a lot less stressful.

Reserve your storage in advance. If you need storage to hold your belongings for a few months, make sure to book it early. The summer is a busy time for storage facilities as fellow students are looking for storage as well. Assess your items, figure out the size of the unit you’ll need, and use SpareFoot to find a storage unit near you. By booking early, you can review and compare prices to avoid being turned down.
