I love Halloween as much as the next person. I just do not like having around a ton of candy for days weeks months!
I finally came up with a solution that my kids just absolutely love!!
The Candy Witch comes to our house on Halloween Night! After the kids get in from trick or treating, we go through their candy. Each kiddo gets to pick 10-15 pieces of their favorite candy from their stash, but the rest gets left out for the Candy Witch!
The Candy Witch takes the candy away and leaves a little present in its place!
The kiddos still get some fun sweets from a night out and I am not stuck trying to stay out of all the candy for months on end!
The little present the Candy Witch leaves is nothing too big and nothing expensive. Usually something she has found on clearance at Target but the kiddos are happy no matter how much it costs!

It goes with hubby to work. They have candy dishes in their lobby area.
I think this is a great idea. I first heard this idea a couple years ago and it seems like a really good solution for dealing with the excess of crap that gets doled out on Halloween.

OK we are HORRIBLE for this, I’m sure, but it works for us!
Every holiday in our house is a free for all. This means, the kiddos can eat whatever they want, as much as they want, whenever they want.
Terrible parenting? Na… we spend the rest of the year teaching them good eating habits, and when that day comes, they just THINK they’re getting a ton of extra stuff, but really, they don’t WANT that much!
So halloween night, they get to eat as MUCH candy as they want. After that, it goes by the wayside!
Horrible? No so much.. after about 6 or so pieces, they’re done! hahaha!

how funny, I call it the Halloween Fairy….
That is awesome. Also, if hubby’s work is inundated, I know that Cypress Cares takes donations and they send it to our military men and women that don’t get candy much where they are.
