When I was in Los Angeles last week I had the privilege to see People Like Us.
This movie is full of heart, humor, and stories of real life.
In a room filled with 25 bloggers, we all had some sort of connection to the story line. It is a story of real life. A story that can touch every single person is some way or another.
I am not one who cries at movies, but I will tell you many people in our room watching the film needed some kleenex at some point. This movie is that real. It tugs at your heart strings and really makes you look at your own life.
Here is the synopsis of People Like Us:
From DreamWorks Pictures comes “People Like Us,” a drama/comedy about family, inspired by true events, starring Chris Pine (“Star Trek”) as Sam, a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, whose latest deal collapses on the day he learns that his father has suddenly died. Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father’s estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family. In the course of fulfilling his father’s last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside down: He has a 30-year-old sister Frankie whom he never knew about (Elizabeth Banks). As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about his family—and re-examine his own life choices in the process.
I am going to share with you 10 reasons I think you need to see this film June 29th. No particular order either, just 10 reasons why you NEED to see this film.
1. Chris Pine #enoughsaid
2. Elizabeth Banks looks human and gorgeous. No crazy make up and wardrobes like when she was Effie in The Hunger Games.
3. Michelle Pfeiffer in “raw” form. No make up and still lovely.
4. Your family may not be the “family” you have come to know. Family can be the people in your life, blood or not. The key is finding that family.
5. Chris Pine. Wait, did I say this already?
6. This movie is Inspired by True Events. That alone is a good reason to see the film.
7.This movie will make you laugh. Big belly laughs and some days that is just what you need.
8.This movie took 8 years to create. Its amazing to see it come into its own.
9.The last 5 minutes of the movie, everything comes together. It all makes sense. **See, you have to go see it to know what I am talking about
10.People Like Us is just that. A movie for People Like Us. Where we realize we do the best we can and we love the best we can.
I really loved this film. I thought about it for days after seeing it and it is one of those stories you will carry with you forever. You begin to think about where you and where you have come from.
I love a film that challenges you. It challenges who you are, who you throught you were, and who you can become.
Do not miss this film!
People Like Us hits theaters June 29th.
** I was invited by Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks to LA to view this film and interview the director. No monetary compensation was made and all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
