Crayola~ Made in America + #Giveaway

by Lori on September 6, 2012

*This post is part of the Back to School Series.

When I think of Back to School time, Crayola is one of the very first things to come to my mind.

Ever since I was a kid, the iconic brand Crayola has been apart of my back to school days.

I prefer Crayola products. There is nothing like the smell of a new Crayola box of crayons. The writing with a Crayola brand crayon is unlike any other I have ever used.

The best part of Crayola?

MADE IN AMERICA.

That’s right people. This amazing product is Made in the Good Ole USA!

You just don’t find products like that these days. Most are outsourced and create zero jobs for our people here in America.

Crayola is one of those companies who puts pride in its product, its people, and its country.

At the manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania, Crayola makes 650 crayons per minute and up to 13.5 million crayons a day! More than 400 different crayon colors are made, including favorites such as burnt sienna, carnation pink and midnight blue. On average, the company makes 3 billion crayons a year, enough to circle the world six times!

In addition to being made in America, Crayola feels it is their responsibility to shrink their carbon footprint for the kids who know and love the products and who will be the next leaders of this country. A solar farm located in Forks Township, PA provides enough power to make 1 billion of the 3 billion crayons that Crayola produces each year and 500 million markers per year.

Did you ever wonder who actually makes those quality crayons? Come inside the factory to meet our dedicated workforce and see how the great American crayon is made!

From the 8-count all the way up to the 120-count box,  the company’s regular-sized crayons, including reds, whites, blues and every color in between are all made in Easton, Pennsylvania.  Crayola makes their crayons using the finest pigments for intense color, and is a special blend of that colored pigment, along with paraffin wax for smoothness and clay for strength.  A dedicated workforce of over 1,200 help to create these high-quality crayons that will land in the backpacks of students and in classrooms across the nation.   So why not send your kids off to school this year with the best tools to help them perform their best and bring their original ideas to life?

My little blog here started out about my family and what we ate, how we had fun, and lived our life. Somewhere along the way, I turned into a nutritionally rockin’ Mom who works hard to change all of our lives and prevent a single one of us from obesity.

We enjoy all kinds of Crayola products in our house from chalk, markers, colored pencils and of course crayons. We love our metallic pencils and glitter crayons the most (at least right now.)

It’s the only brand I’ll buy. We recycle broken crayons by meltng them into silicone molds.
