ROCOrooters offers: a great entertainment experience for parents, a fun educational experience for kids, and extended childcare so that mom and dad can enjoy a worry-free “date night” with dinner out after the concert while we keep the kids for pizza and movies

ROCOrooters Music Education Program Lets Parents Enjoy a “Date Night”

River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) is pleased to present its popular ROCOrooters program concurrent with its Season Finale concert on Saturday, April 9^th, 2011 at 5pm at The Church of St. John the Divine. The nationally-acclaimed ROCOrooters program provides professional music education and post-concert childcare for children ages 2 months to 10 years, allowing parents to enjoy a concert and dinner out afterward.

Praised as “one of the most creative, innovative music education programs ever,” ROCOrooters goes beyond basic childcare by providing instruction in music and concert etiquette.  ROCOrooters participants ages five and older attend the concert for one piece of music, which prepares them to make the transition to audience members.  Pre-school aged children receive music instruction tailored to their age group.  ROCOrooters runs concurrent with all Saturday evening concerts at The Church of St. John the Divine, including the Season Finale Concert on Saturday, April 9^th, in which ROCO welcomes back guest conductor Robert Moody, who will conduct Beethoven’s lively Symphony No. 7, Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet, performed by ROCO principal clarinet, Nathan Williams, and Jose Antonio Bowen’s Pulitzer-nominated Symphony No. 1 .

Registration for ROCOrooters is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child under the same reservation, and includes music education during the concert and pizza and movies following the concert until 9:30pm.  Advance registration is required at www.rocohouston.org or at  (713) 665-2700.
