Comicpalooza 2015 Wrap Up #HoustonNerdsUnite

by Lori on June 2, 2015

Comicpalooza has come to a close. All the celebrities have gone back to their crazy lives. All the knowledgeable panel members are back doing their every day jobs. All the awesome workers and volunteers are home with their families. All the cosplayers have hung up their costumes for another time. And the guests, well I can only speak for this guest when I say that I am now hooked. Not hooked on all things comic books but hooked on Comicpalooza. This event will definitely be one that I attend every single year.

This was the first Comicpalooza for my whole family. It is something I knew my kids would enjoy since we are all into comic books, super heroes, and so much more of what this conference had to offer.

I do believe their favorite part of the entire weekend was taking pictures with Hayley Atwell from Marvels’ Agent Carter, Captain America, and Cinderella.

You could NOT go to Comicpalooza and ignore the longest line I have ever seen. You had to find out what it was for and join in. In this case, the line was for a photograph with the main man of Comic Books…..Stan “The Man” Lee!

It was not just celebrities and glitz and glamor at Comicpalooza. They had panels where you could ask these celebrities questions or learn from the best of the best in your trade or craft. A few examples were Cosplay costumes, make up, how to write your own comic book and so much more. They also had a kids area with coloring sheets, legos, face painting, costume contests  and games. I loved that they thought of families at Comicpalooza and made it an experience even the kids could enjoy.   My kids went to a sword fighting class and had so much fun!

Another favorite of mine from the weekend was just the walking around the exhibit center and seeing all the cosplay! My 6 year old dressed up the first day but decided against it the other days. Seeing all the create cosplay really made my family excited and we also decided that we will be dressing up ourselves next year! We are already getting ideas and making plans!

I believe this weekend made me Mom of the Year for sure!
